Although founded in 1996, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) fandom only recently reached an all-time high. As a long-time supporter of WNBA basketball, HSL is thrilled to see the much-deserved rise in popularity and push for enhanced player appreciation. HSL recently had the unique opportunity to meet the WNBA superstars and skilled staff of the Chicago Sky, in an afternoon filled with autographs and gourmet fare.
Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Head Coach Teresa Weatherspoon and Chicago Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca delighted the HSL team with tales from on and off the court and shared their hopes for the 2024 season. It was apparent how passionate Weatherspoon and Pagliocca are about the game and the exceptional women that form their team. Weatherspoon’s impassioned speech left attendees motivated and cheerful, making clear why her coaching skills have been in demand for over 17 years.
HSL came to know each player, learned of their trials and tribulations, and of their impressive contributions to the Chicago Sky Team. From this year’s draft picks Angel Reese (Forward), Kamilla Cardoso (Center) and Brynna Maxwell (Guard) to veteran Sky Players like Diamond DeShields (Guard), there was certainly no shortage of talent in attendance, inspiring the HSL team and the next generation of young athletes.
HSL is proud to continue to support the Chicago Sky and the WNBA and looks forward to seeing what the rest of the 2024 season will bring for the team and the league!
